IndieWire: Koch Lorber Films
has acquired all U.S. and Canadian rights (excluding pay television
rights) to Ruth Leitman's documentary "Lipstick & Dynamite,
Piss & Vinegar: The First Ladies of Wrestling." Leitman's
doc had its world premiere at Toronto's Hot Docs and then had its
U.S. premiere at this month's Tribeca Film Festival. Koch Lorber
plans a theatrical release in fall 2004 or early 2005. In a statement,
Koch Lorber president Richard Lorber said, "Everyone at Koch
Lorber is exhilarated about 'Lipstick & Dynamite,' a film that
is as provocative as it is hugely entertaining. Ruth Leitman has
made a film that celebrates the lives of extraordinary women in
a male-dominated sport." To read the article, click

The Hollywood Reporter sez:
"Make no mistake, these First Ladies of Wrestling are some
tough old broads. 'We were no goody-two-shoes,' boasts Penny Banner,
who earned the AWA woman's wrestling title in 1961 and is also featured
in 'Lipstick & Dynamite.' 'We were the baddest of the baddest!'"

NOW Toronto: "In a scene
from Ruth Leitman's documentary about girl wrestlers of the 40s
and 50s, the Fabulous Moolah stands on the deck at her South Carolina
ranch with her tag-team partner, the Great Mae Young. They're dressed
in immaculate pantsuits and chunky jewellery, looking like grannies
fresh from the salon..." read the article, click

Variety film review: "Smart
assembly of terrific archive footage is matched by spirited interviews
with the tough old broads today, as they look back on their years
in the ring when they pulverized the Donna Reed stereotype of post-WWII
womanhood..." Read the review, click
